LINEAR MARRIAGE
HAND BINDING BOOK
October 22nd, 2014 is the 22nd anniversary of my parents’ marriage. Through the medium of time, love becomes my family’s bond. The marriage of them is like an invisible red string, tightly tying both of them together.
In this design I used red string as the basic element. In China, red string symbolizes marriage. I categorized my parents’ 22 years of marriage into 13 stages, and using abstract red lines to represent each stage. As time goes by, we will keep going into the next marriage stage. The border of the book becomes narrower and narrower, which symbolizes a time warp allowing us to peek the secrets of marriage.
When picked up a book is like a marriage of two people open.As time accumulation, originally simple two lines into a crisscross network.
